Liam grinned. "I can think of a few things I'd rather wear around my neck, though. Don't fancy suffocating in the name of fashion."

Odette smiled and nodded.

"I remember v-visiting when I first came to Lakeshore," she said, brushing her fingers along the glass of the snake's tank to watch its eyes follow her, "they had a p-python that had rose p-petals instead of scales. It was the most g-gorgeous thing. But I was t-too young to adopt it without g-guardian permission. I was so sad when it left."

Liam smiled. "I'd love to have seen that."

Eve sighed. /Nevermind just seeing it, can you imagine petting it? It'd be so soft!/

Liam nodded. "What color were the petals? I'm imagining some kind of pink, but really it could be a lot of things."

"They were p-pink with redder edges, b-but they got all red closer to the tail. It was so pretty."

Liam's smile widened, and heat crept into his cheeks as he turned to her. "Sounds almost as pretty as you, Princess."

Odette blinked, a grin slowly curling across her lips as she fought and failed against the rising bubble of giggles that overtook her. She covered the lower half of her face with the back of her hand and tried to collect herself.

"Oh dear," she giggled again and cleared her throat. "Oh, Liam. That was cute." She beamed and moved along to another tank, which had seahorses with little unicorn horns and multicolored manes that swirled in the water behind them.

Liam grinned as Odette laughed, and raised a brow slightly when she called him cute. Not quite the reaction he'd been expecting, but he figured it'd be rude to press for a thank you. He followed her toward the horned seahorses -- or would they be sea-unicorns? -- and watched them move in the water, trailing rainbows behind them. Maybe he could save up for one of those.

Odette leaned in to watch the sea-unicorns, and smiled when one of them swam up to boop its snout against the glass, near where her own nose was.

"These guys are cuties," she cooed.

"Aye." Liam trailed his finger over the glass and watched a sea-unicorn follow it. "Do they have sea-pegasi too? They'd probably have fins or flippers instead of wings, I imagine..."

Odette shrugged. "I guess if they j-just had flippers, they would look less wh-whimsical. Unless they had the b-big spindly kind, like lionfish have."

Liam nodded. "Aye, that'd work."

After a few more moments he moved to the next tank, which held several large snails with the shiniest shells he'd ever seen.

Odette sidled along to another tank, which held several scorpions with tiny octopus tentacles instead of stingers.

"What in the world..."

Liam followed her gaze and made a noise in his throat that even he couldn't decipher. "Good question. I guess that makes them less dangerous? They could easily have been jellyfish tentacles."
