Magical Weaknesses: the above woad paint is addictive, and if she neglects to use it her defense goes down to lower than normal.

Personality: Bold and courageous, always one to fight rather than flee. She is fiercely loyal, even to the point of self-sacrifice if necessary.

Backstory: Brynja is one of several Swan-people from a mountain village in Norway, who were kidnapped by Fae invested in playing out the roles of the Norse gods. The kidnapped Swan-women were forced into the role of valkyries, serving a Fae who styled herself Brynhild. They trained in combat and brought many mortals into Arcadia for the Fae to toy with.

Brynja is one of the eight companions who went with Rúna to rescue a Pooka named Muninn, as part of a ploy by a Fomorian named Loki. When they returned with Muninn and Rúna was chased off, Brynja and her friend Arnbjörg tried to follow her, but were lost in Arcadia and separated from Rúna, who found Dunehelden. They still seek her out, even with no idea of where to find her.

Appearance: 6’3” and physically fit, she has long blonde hair that falls in loose curls down her back, and grey eyes. She decorates her face and body with woad warpaint, and wears white backless dresses to accommodate her large white wings.

Magical Powers/Abilities: Flight, transformation into swan, resistance to toxins/venoms/etc.
Magical Weaknesses: Her immunity also means many medicines don’t work on her either, which is a hassle when she gets hurt or sick.

Personality: Gentle and compassionate, she prefers healing wounds to inflicting them, but her time in Arcadia has given her training in combat as well. Like Brynja, she is loyal to those she cares for, and has become good friends with Brynja and Rúna.

Appearance: 5’10” and physically fit, she has long brown hair that she wears in a ponytail, and bright green eyes. She wears white backless dresses to accommodate her large white wings.

Magical Powers/Abilities: Breathing underwater (he IS Fomorian, after all), curses, Glamour
Magical Weaknesses: Cold iron, as per the Fae norm.

Personality: Befitting the name he chose for himself, Loki is every inch the malevolent trickster. He does what he wants, when he wants, and rarely cooperates with others except when it benefits him. Bargain with him at your own risk, because he WILL find a way to turn it against you.

Backstory: Loki is part of a “pantheon” of various Fae who decided it’d be fun to emulate the Norse deities and play games with people of various description. Humans, swan-people, even other Fae are fair game. He works against the other “gods” such as Odin and Brynhild, as does his Norse counterpart. See Rúna’s backstory for more details.

Appearance: Eight feet tall, lithe and sinewy, with sickly greyish skin, long black hair, golden eyes like a snake’s, and an evil grin that’s just a bit too big for his face. With fangs. Snakey fangs. He dresses in black and dark green, with occasional dark blue and silver.

Magical Powers/Abilities: his spear never misses its target. Ever.
Magical Weaknesses: Cold iron

Personality: Cold, stern and vain, he prefers to send underlings to do his bidding than do anything himself, except when it comes to fighting.

Backstory: Odin is part of a “pantheon” of various Fae who decided it’d be fun to emulate the Norse deities and play games with people of various description. Humans, swan-people, even other Fae are fair game. He works alongside the other “gods” such as Thor and Brynhild, as does his Norse counterpart. He has two Pooka servants/lackeys named Huginn and Muninn.

Appearance: 6’6” and pale blond, with grey eyes (yes, two. He is too vain to sacrifice his eye for realistic aesthetic, and simply covers it with a black scarf). Typically wears a wide-brimmed hat and a long grey robe with Norse runes embroidered on it. He wields a tall bronze-headed spear.

Personality: Brave and warlike, but without compassion. She trains her warriors long and hard, and is not merciful to those who fail to meet her standards.

Backstory: See Loki and Odin. Brynhild is the trainer of her “valkyries”, kidnapped swan-women whom she trains in combat and commands to bring mortals into Arcadia for the Fae’s amusement. She and Odin typically order those mortals to battle daily in a great arena called “Valhalla”, where the strong survive and the weak die. Those who are still alive at the end of the day are tended by Arnbjörg, then rewarded with a great feast of meat and mead, served by the valkyries. The meat is taken from what can be salvaged from the slain.

Appearance: 6’4” and muscular, with blue eyes and sweeping golden blonde hair. She dresses in white underneath her armor, and wields a bronze sword.
