Guys' Night Out

[Vincent Hawk]

Vincent held the door for Dom and Bolin to enter the Magic Bean ahead of him, then caught the barista's eye with a grin. He reached for his wallet as he moved up to the counter. "I'll get this round." The barista was already getting three goat horns out for their usual order. Being regular customers definitely had its perks.

[Bolin Honghui]

"I call the next round," Bolin said at Vincent's back. He made his way to their usual table, in the corner by the window, so that they could people-watch comfortably either in the shop or towards the street outside.

He smirked at Dom. "Think we'll see that dog-walker again this time? I swear one of those dogs was actually a seal."

[Dominic "Dom" Hawk]

Dom grinned back at Bolin as he followed him to the table. "Seems pretty likely. I don't know of any seals or seal-shifters or Selkies around here though, except Elspeth MacNamara. And she wouldn't be that seal."

[Bolin Honghui]

"I've heard Sam talking about how the shelter took in a mer-dog a while back." Bolin quirked his lips to one side and steepled his fingers together.

"Maybe she meant it was a seal. Calling it a mer-dog isn't wrong, though."

[Dominic "Dom" Hawk]

"True." Dom chuckled. "That could be it."

He looked up as Vincent came back with their drinks, and took one of the three goat-horns full of steaming tea. "Thank you."

[Bolin Honghui]

"Sweeeet." Bolin wrapped his hands around the horn handed to him and beamed. He had been craving this tea for a few days now.

Also drinking from the horn made him feel like a Viking.

[Vincent Hawk]

"Yes. Yes it is." Vincent grinned as he sat down next to Bolin with his own horn, breathing in the fragrant steam. "A good deal sweeter than its namesake. But so very tasty."

He chuckled as he looked back and forth between Dom and Bolin. They probably felt as much like Vikings as he did.

"Any thoughts on whether you're dressing up for Hallowe'en, Bolin?" He and Dom had their costumes well planned out in advance. Han and Chewie were always a fun pair, and Dom could do the Wookiee noises perfectly. Diana had even agreed to be Leia this year, which only made it better.

[Bolin Honghui]

Bolin shrugged as he nibbled on the rim of his drinking horn. "No idea. Last year I was working my other job on All Hallows..." A smirk curled across his lips.

"I'm sure I can find a Creepypasta character to dress up as. I heard talk that Jaebi wanted to be Slender Man, so that one's out, but there are plenty others."

Vincent nodded knowingly. "Can't say I'm very familiar with creepypasta, but I'm sure you'll find something. Or, when in doubt, you could just shift to your tiger form and say you're Shere Khan."

[Dominic "Dom" Hawk]

Dom laughed. "Aah, where's the fun in that? By that logic I should turn bear, dye my fur black and go as Beorn. Parties are far more fun when you have feet and hands rather than paws."

[Bolin Honghui]

Bolin laughed. "I mean, I would go as General Shang if I wanted something easy. But then I would have to shave." He brushed his fingers over his stubble. "Or I could just wear my pinstripe suit and a fedora and be a member of the Triad. Or my old Special Forces uniform. Can be G.I. Joe."

[Dominic "Dom" Hawk]

Dom laughed. "G.I. Joe would be perfect. There you go."

He took a careful drink of his tea. "I was very tempted to be Boromir, and badger Vincent into being Faramir. But there's always next year."

[Vincent Hawk]

Vincent snorted. "As if you'd need to badger me into that. I would have gladly done it. I might have asked Diana to be my Éowyn as well."

[Bolin Honghui]

"Perhaps Fable would be a terrifying possessed Théoden."

Bolin sipped his tea and sighed happily. "Fable usually just wanders the halls on all Hallows. Like to scare stragglers."

[Vincent Hawk]

Vincent nearly choked on a sip of tea, but managed to swallow it. "Oh, dear. I could see that happening. I think he'd need a bit of convincing, though."

[Dominic "Dom" Hawk]

Dom snorted in amusement. "Fable as Theoden? That would be terrifying. I could see Rhythan being Gandalf the White, in that case."

[Bolin Honghui]

"Think Rhythan should be Galadriel," Bolin added before taking another sip. "Have you seen him when the freshmen get into his baking chocolate? He's terrifying."

His grin turned slightly ominous. "Wonder what Oakleigh's doing..."

[Dominic "Dom" Hawk]

Dom laughed. "I haven't heard. I'm inclined to think Caliban's going as Aslan, but that might be too obvious."

[Vincent Hawk]

Vincent shook his head and sipped his tea again. "Somehow I doubt a Fae would want to dress up as a representation of Jesus, fictional or not."

[Bolin Honghui]

Bolin shrugged. "Might if they just like the character, regardless of what deity they invoke."

[Vincent Hawk]

"True," Vincent conceded with a nod. "I'm certainly no stranger to portraying characters I'd never seriously emulate in real life. At least not to their fullest extent. Then again, dressing up as an obsessive masked murderer like the Phantom for fun is rather different than dressing up as the Son of God."

[Bolin Honghui]

Bolin nibbled on the rim of his drinking horn again.

"Speaking as someone who has torn the heads from beings that normal humans would consider gods, however minor, I humbly disagree." He took a sip and offered his friend a smile. "Any mythology is up for grabs, so long as it's done tastefully, and the christian mythology isn't excluded from that."

[Vincent Hawk]

Vincent smiled back and tipped his head forward. "Yet another good point. It does look different from a perspective that isn't strictly Christian. But I can see Caliban avoiding it anyway, given how hard many Christians have tried to stamp out the Fae. Nevermind that they failed spectacularly."

[Bolin Honghui]

Bolin chuckled at that before he drained his drinking horn.  "Maybe Caliban can be Liono instead, then?  I'd be willing to paint myself up at Panthro if necessary."

[Vincent Hawk]

Vincent chuckled. "You'd have to ask em about it. Seems pretty viable, though. Is there no tiger among the Thundercats?"
