"I'm free." Kazuo walked into the room and rolled his shoulders. "I do remember promising to teach you some throws. Want to learn a couple now?"

He pushed up his sleeves and chuckled. "Jason, d'you want to join?"

Jason nodded, grinning. "Sure, why not? Never too late to learn something new." Though he couldn't imagine he'd be very good -- he didn't have anything close to Kuma's muscles, or Roo's sinew.

[Kazuo "Kuma-kun" Baratoge]

Kazuo nodded, and stepped around the two to pull the floor mats from their stack against the wall and drag them onto the empty space in the middle of the big room. He turned to ask them to take their shoes off, then noticed Jason's skirt.

"Oh!" He grinned. "D'you want to change? I have basketball shorts in my locker."

Jason looked down ta his outfit and laughed. "Might be a good idea. As long as they'll fit." He started toward the men's locker room, unsure of which locker was Kuma's.

[Kazuo "Kuma-kun" Baratoge]

Kazuo jogged after him and spun open the lock on his locker. There were two pairs of basketball shorts, both of which were probably too big for Jason, but they sported drawstrings that would at least keep them from slipping.

For a moment Jason pondered whether he really cared that much if Kuma's shorts matched the shirt he was wearing, then shrugged and picked the first pair that came to hand. He changed quickly and left his skirt on the bench where he'd find it afterward, then nodded to Kuma and headed back out to where Roo still waited.

[Jung Roojin]

Roo bounced from one bare foot to the other, waiting for Kuma and Jason to get back from the locker room. She smiled and pushed up the sleeves of her hoodie when they emerged.

"What are you showin' us first, Kuma?"

[Kazuo "Kuma-kun" Baratoge]

"Huh... a basic throw to start with," Kazuo said as he walks onto the mats. He faced both Roo and Jason.

"Suppose someone comes at you from the front, and attempt to grab your shoulder or wrist." He beckoned for Roo to come forward. "You're gonna grab them-- wrist, forearm, sleeve, wherever-- and you're gonna turn and drop at the same time, while pullin' forward as hard as you can. Lead them forward with your shoulders, and..."

He tossed Roo neatly over his shoulder, making sure to catch her before she hit the mat and let her fall gently.

"Who wants to try?"

Jason nodded and stepped forward. "I will!"

[Kazuo "Kuma-kun" Baratoge]

Kazuo beamed and held his arm out to rest his hand on Jason's shoulder. "Alright. So don't worry about me hitting the floor too hard. Just throw, yeah?"

Jason nodded, taking a moment to psyche himself up for this. He seriously doubted he could budge Kuma an inch, but did his best to push that aside -- he'd never accomplish anything if he believed he couldn't do it. Positioning his hands as Kuma had advised, and telling himself he could do this, he turned, dropped and pulled with all his strength.

Kazuo let himself be led into a smooth roll, which ended with him standing upright on the other side of the mat. He turned and clapped once, beaming.

"That was perfect, Jason. Let's try it one more time-- and if you're worried about having enough force, you can always push back with your hip before turning. It messes with your attacker's balance and it makes them easier to throw."

Jason nodded, grinning with a bit of pride as he watched Kuma. "Okay. I'll try that this time. Ready when you are."

[Kazuo "Kuma-kun" Baratoge]

Kazuo nodded himself, and raked his hair back before getting into position and reaching out for Jason's shoulder.

Jason acted faster this time, boosted by self-confidence. He put his hip into the throw, doing his best to use Kuma's own weight against him.

[Kazuo "Kuma-kun" Baratoge]

Kazuo fell neatly into a shoulder roll and landed in a kneel on the floorpad. He chuckled and clapped his hands like a proud parent.

"You're really good at this, y'know? Have you taken a martial art before?"

[Jason Hiller]

"Not formally," Jason said, shaking his head. "When my father was in the army, he had a friend there who taught him a few moves, and he taught them to me. I was showing Roo my favorite before you came in."

[Jung Roojin]

Roo beamed and bounced slightly on the balls of her feet.

"He was! It's a useful one, too."

She had watched Jason perform the throw seamlessly, and was now eager to try it herself.

Kazuo chuckled and flapped his hand at Roo in a "come at me" motion.

"Alright, Freckles. It's your turn. Think you can throw ol' Kuma?"
